Love for Erdem

Today I found out that I had secured a design development internship with Erdem Moralioglu and I am so happy! Erdem is one of my favourite designers with his signature prints, demure fitted dresses and umbrella full skirts. I was drawn to them because from the interview, I could tell the internship would be very hands-on. I was told I would be able to get involved in all sides of production. From sewing up toiles, hand-sewing embellishments, being able to see the print development unfold, CAD work and even admin. A dip into everything is just what I wanted. As an added bonus I will be working in Shoreditch, my favourite area for vintage shopping, thrifty market stalls and buzzing creativity.

My favourite collection from Erdem is definitely S/S 2013. I just love the sugar-coated colours, sheer overlays over umbrella skirts, gorgeous prints and intricate embellishments!

Also this Grazia video excited me a little. It may be his A/W 2012 collection but it gave me an insight into his previous inspirations and what to expect in the buzzing studio. I have lots to look forward to!

Celia Birtwell prints with Uniqlo

Celia Birtwell is most known for her whimsical, quirky prints dating back into the late 1960's and early 1970's. So it was great to see a revival of her prints in her collaboration with Uniqlo. The capsule collection comprises of dainty viscose cotton blouses and shirt dresses, jersey T-shirts, pleated culottes and more. There are a lot of gentle shapes that are easy and comfortable to wear.

The collection opened in Uniqlo's Oxford Street on March 21st and I couldn't help but buy one of their printed leggings. They're more like tapered ankle trousers on my petite figure though which I love. I've been looking for a lovely pair of printed trousers for a while now! It usually takes a while for me to find a well-fitting trouser as I am fairly petite. But these ones have elastic around the waist and are ankle length, which means they look perfectly slim-fitting. I'll upload a photo of them soon. They're a pale blue colour with a white paisley print. Let's hope spring comes round soon!

Dior takeover at Harrods

I was lucky enough to visit the Dior exhibition at Harrods and it was truly a spectacle, from the never-ending window displays to the miniature gowns and beautifully-cut toiles. The theme of the window displays were a charming blend of the British and the French, mixing Dior's garments alongside the signatures postboxes, buses and palace guards of London.

Hidden on the fourth floor of Harrods, reminiscent of a beautiful Egyptian-themed museum, you'll find a mixture of sketches and letters from the couture house and an array of white toiles lined up. You'll find the displays focus on everything from the Lady Dior handbag to their signature scent of J'adore.  My favourite part of the exhibition was seeing the golds gowns that Charlie Theron wore in the new J'adore Dior commercial. It's a beautiful unveiling of the intricate details that have been put into this rich heritage.

The Dior takeover runs from March 16 to April 14 and it's free entry, so it really can't go amiss!
